Lafayette Academy: A Classical School seeks a passionate and competent Elementary School teacher to join our faculty. Candidates should have a strong educational background with an equally strong commitment to student development and success. The ideal candidate will have strong lesson planning and instructional strategies skills, along with excellent communication and patience. A bachelor’s degree and the ability to teach K-8 education is required. Classical training is preferred, but not required. The successful applicant will be a motivated individual with strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, with a keen interest in encouraging and inspiring students. • Teach content and skills as related to K-8 classical education (phonics, cursive, grammar, math, history, literature/composition) 
• Develop lessons in accordance with the Hillsdale Barney Charter School Curriculum (BCSI) that promote problem solving, creative thinking, collaboration and effective communication skills while encouraging risk-taking in learning and modeling life-long learning
• Develop and maintain long range and daily instructional plans for each course using a variety of teaching and assessment tools and strategies 
• Effectively manage a classroom to facilitate maximized learning for all students
• Engage students in grade level-appropriate learning experiences that promote performance and intellectual and moral development
• Lead Socratic discussions to ensure conceptual understanding of mathematics
• Oversee the implementation of fair and consistent disciplinary procedures that uphold school policy and standards of conduct
• Tailor instruction to meet the needs of a broad range of students
• Collaborate with colleagues to support a true liberal arts curriculum
• Communicate with parents on individual student progress and cultivating a positive relationship to establish a partnership and cooperation in the student’s educational experience
• Effectively use formal and informal assessment strategies to determine whether students have achieved academic standards 
• Modify instructional strategies as needed to maximize achievement for students needing enhancements and/or remediations

• Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to classical education and the vision, mission, and philosophy of the school, and consistently develop, foster, and advance these concepts in students
• Engage every student in grade level-appropriate learning experiences that promote performance and intellectual and moral development
• Model, teach, and reinforce the four classical virtues of prudence, temperance, justice, and fortitude
• A motivated individual with strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, and a keen interest in encouraging and inspiring students
