Job Summary

The Senior Accountant engages regularly with the Managing Partner and Chief Operating Officer and plays a critical role in The Bahnsen Group’s Business Administration Department. The role is in-office, out of Newport Beach, CA. Key responsibilities include managing the monthly/quarterly accounting and budgeting, plus engaging with financial advisors and the firm’s Leadership Team to report financial results.

Responsibilities

In addition to embracing The Bahnsen Group’s mission, supporting its leadership, and representing the firm in professional and public forums, the Senior Accountant’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:


  • Prepares monthly financial reports including reconciliation of all supporting data.
  • Develops, maintains, and monitors firm budgets and forecasts.
  • Supports the Managing Partner with quarterly cash flow forecasting.
  • Communicates and presents reporting and analytics results to firm leadership.
  • Oversees all accounting functions (Billing, A/R, A/P, Cash Disbursements, and month-end closing procedures).
  • Prepares quarterly Department and Advisor P&Ls.
  • Performs monthly bank account reconciliations.
  • Processes payroll, maintaining the firm’s payroll records and recording the expense to the general ledger.
  • Manages and coordinates the renewal of the firm’s insurance policies.
  • Collaborates effectively with the COO, and Managing Partner, providing guidance and strategic direction.
  • Develops and oversees financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard assets, protect confidential information, and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Regulatory filings: Statements of Information, TA-2, Business Licenses, Parasec Registrations, etc.
  • Tax filings and payments: federal, state, local, PTET, and others.
  • Ad Hoc Reporting and Financial Analysis.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and VBA.
  • Experience with Quickbooks Desktop, iSolved HR & Payroll, Zoho, and Salesforce a plus.
