Job Description

Role and Responsibilities

This role focuses on  the design process for design- and make-to-order manufacturing environment. Every unit produced is uniquely produced so the design function is a key element of successful production. In order to enable this, the Company utilizes industry-leading design and automation software that this role manages.

Serve multiple internal “customers” of design information:

 Work with sales team to interpret order information, and in turn produce detailed drawings for customer approval. Responsive turnarounds of drawings for customers are needed since often times projects are under tight deadlines.

 Produce design output for machine programming (CAM). Present data in an informative and efficient manner.

Occasionally participate in product and manufacturing process R&D.

Update company systems to reflect real-time progression of order status.

Provide feedback for continuous quality improvement.

Maintain and build upon the Company’s design automation package:

Use SOLIDWORKS 3D CAD skills to continuously add new features to the assembly file set.

Use DriveWorks to continuously enhance the automation aspect of design, control the order process/interface and present data ready for CAM.

Develop in-depth knowledge of the production process in order to support the other CAD programmers.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

3D modeling experience.

Ability to self-manage multiple efforts simultaneously.

Associates Degree in Architectural Technology  with at least one year of work experience or Four-year degree in technical discipline. Will consider a mix of other qualifications including demonstrated experience, certifications and other diplomas.

Hands-on approach to getting things done. Self-motivated. Independent and analytical thinker.

Computer Literate (Microsoft applications, etc)

Written & spoken English required.

Flexibility to work overtime.

Ability to professionally represent the Company with any customer communication


Preferred Skills

SOLIDWORKS assembly modeling and print generation 3 years' experience. If not SOLIDWORKS, will consider other 3D platforms, such as Inventor, Fusion360, Creo/PTC, OnShape, etc.

DriveWorks design automation experience preferred; else, some sort of lite programming of software configuration experience a plus.

Any experience in construction or manufacturing environment. Familiarity & comfort around heavy equipment, tools and trades skills a plus. Experience in woodworking a big plus.

Experience with heavy machinery common to the wood industry: CNC Routers, Sanders, Profiling Equipment

Spoken and written Spanish is a plus.
