Job Description

Primary Function:
The Engineer role is responsible for the accurate and on-time delivery of product and tooling designs that meet manufacturability standards within Kaspar Wire Works business. The Engineer is further accountable for the development of designs that conform to the requirements defined by the business leadership team. They will accomplish these responsibilities through customer design review and revision, conceptual layout, detailed design, and prototype development. The Engineer is also responsible for maintenance of the QMS system, pareto analysis of non-conformities, auditing of internal systems, assessment of quality objectives and coordinating with external customer’s quality departments.

Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
• Manage projects utilizing the phased design development methodology
• Develop project plans to ensure timelines are communicated through the organization and met
• Create 3D designs and translate the designs into 2D drawings as required for manufacturing breakdown and programming
• Determine root cause and corrective actions for designs and design execution. Present findings and solutions to business leadership for approval and guidance
• Be instrumental in the development product designs for customers and play a significant role in the redesign of existing customer products to meet manufacturability standards
• Will serve as the primary interface with business leadership in defining requirements, reviewing resources and project plans, and execution status
• Will lead or participate in design / development reviews with management and both internal and external customers. Must have the ability to present effectively to a diverse and demanding audience

• Conduct root cause analysis
• Track NCMRs (non-conformance material report)
• Conduct internal audits
• Support external audits
• Assess quality objectives
• Oversee FAI (first article inspection) and PPAP (pre-production approval process) inspections
• Develop inspection plans for production
• Document inspection results including but not limited to reports and logs; summarizing re-work and waste; inputting data into quality database
• Maintain measurement equipment through standard procedures and ordering external calibrations
• Travel up to 25% required
• All other duties assigned by management

• Excellent communication skills in both written and spoken formats
• Proficiency in AutoCAD or SolidWorks for both 3D models and orthographic drawings
• Team oriented and focused on business benefits
• Must have superb problem solving skills and possess good organizational skills
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize both daily issues and strategic projects
• Must have high aptitude for design for manufacturability
• Ability to work closely with department supervision and production workers

• BS in Engineering (mechanical, design)
• 4+ years of experience in a design engineering role
• Lean / Six Sigma Trained – certification a plus
• Metal working industry experience
• Experience in an ERP environment
• MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, Outlook, etc...) proficiency required
• Must possess current and valid driving record with clear history for the past three years
